The name Sabrina is though to be derived from an ancient Welsh legend about a princess who was tragically drowned in the River Severn, the modern derivation does not induce icons of this specific imagery.

It is much like “Czar-ina, or Tsar-ina,” and invokes notions of power, strong will, and a connection with established bloodlines. Sabrina is a paradoxical name since the first syllable is appropriate for a position of high authority, but the “-ina” denotes a diminutive nature or social position.
