Judy is considered a pet name, or a nickname, as it is used to shorten the longer form “Judith.”

Judy has seen a lot of fanfare by being the title and concentration of several songs such as “Judy” by Elvis Presley, or “Judy” by The Beach Boys.

There are also several famous people who share the seeming unpopular name Judy, from American actresses such as Judy Greer, Judy Holliday, and Judy Garland, to famous tennis players and coach Judy Murray, and Judy Goffman Cutler, an art dealer as well as the founder of the American Illustrators Gallery in New York City.
